Doswell aftermath!

Many thanks to everyone who stopped by the tables at our first show in Doswell Virginia! As if it were really a hardship, now I have to be on the grinder to replace all of the knives that I sold there!

Slightly used Maverick Scout

Near the end of the show in Chantilly, I stopped by the BHK table. LT had a "slightly used" Maverick Scout that someone had returned to them. Of course, I had to get it! After all, I just sold my Maverick the day before.

Long Trails are here!

I have three Long Trails from BHK. One in each color of handle. I should have pictures up shortly!

I just received a pair of Necessary Neckers in time for the show at the Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro Md. I also have a pair of BHK's neck sheaths that will fit their Patch Knives.

BHK One Off Elites

I have gotten several of the Hunter Elite model from Blind Horse Knives. These are "One Off" knives that didn't come out exactly like LT and Dan wanted. One is missing the filework on the blade, another is ground higher than the rest. These knives come with brown or black Dangler sheaths.

These knives are on sale with a $25 savings over the current versions of the Elite!

BHK Maverick Scout

I have just added the new Maverick Scout from Blind Horse Knives. This is a 4 inch knife made from O1 steel and in this case brown micarta scales. The sheath is one of BHK's Dangler sheaths that allows the knife to swing freely below the belt.

Dale City

I have just gotten in two more of the special stag handled Hunters from BHK. These will come with the "Dangler" sheath that allows the knife to swing from your belt. There really isn't enough time to put these online, but I will have them at the VFW on Miniville Rd in Dale City Virginia.

I have just added links to the new knives from the Fixed Blade Page. These links include the new BHK Hunters, the knives of Todd Grimm and some of mine as well.

The new knives from Hen and Rooster are now online. These are made in Spain with Stag or Ram's Horn scales.

New Dealer Knives from Blind Horse

After the loss of Crucible, many knife makers have changed the steel that they use. In the case of Blind Horse Knives, they have taken their "Dealer" knives to the popular ATS-34. The new knives are flat ground, but otherwise the same as the original versions. I will have photos online tomorrow!

New Knives

I am in the process of adding new knives that I picked up in York Pa. Here are a few of them!

Wednesday, May 5, 2010

Damascus Knife Blanks

Rob Charlton of Damascus USA has been making knives of 500+ layer Damascus steel for over thirty years. We are now carrying some of the different models of knife blanks that he makes for makers who don't have the chance to forge the steel themselves.

I am finishing two knives from the V79M blank that is pictured above.

York Pa Aftermath

While the York show was not a success in any measure, I was able to pickup several knives from both Pennsylvania knife maker Todd Grimm and LT Wright of Blind Horse Knives. I am in the process of taking photos now and will have them online as soon as I can.

I do have a BHK Boat Tail Scandi in black micarta available.

New Knives

I just found a supplier for Hen and Rooster knives. They have a nice little drop point that I just ordered with stag and ram's horn handles. I hope to have pictures before the end of the week!

SOG Knives

I went to FOSE this week and was amazed to find the production house of SOG in the middle of all the computer/software/government companies at the show. I did get a chance to play with their "Tomcat-on-steroids", the Fatcat!

A larger folder than the Tomcat, this knife showed workmanship at custom levels. The fit and finish were first rate, the titanium liners were milled to a smooth edge. The action of the TiNi coated blade was as the saying goes, like glass. My only hesitation was the price put it above the level of many of the custom folders including my own Terzuola. I might carry some of their new works, but I will have to keep an eye on the price.

SOG Knives

Of all the places to run into a knife maker, I found SOG at the FOSE show here in Washington DC. After checking out a Tomcat on steroids called the Fatcat. As others would describe it, the action was glass smooth and all of the finishing was superb. The Fatcat also has a dual tone coating of Tini.

Fixing Problems

I have been having problems with the service that takes payments making it hard for customers to make purchases at FBKnife. I spent 47min on the phone yesterday and have some of those problems solved.

York Pa Show.

Things fell apart this morning on the way to York Pa. By the time that I got there, ALL of the tables were gone! This is a first for this promoter. What this means is that I now have new knives that haven't been shown anywhere else. The new knives are from Blind Horse Knives, Bark River and me.

Blind Horse Knives

I have just placed four knives from BHK online. They include the Classic Frontier First Patch Knife, the Boat Tail Scandi and a Custom Workhorse.

Monday, February 15, 2010

New Steel

The supply of 4140 steel that Blind Horse Knives uses for their Patch knives is getting low and they are switching to O1. O1 is a more common steel for knife making and performs well for the work that I have done with it.

Upcoming Shows

We will be at the following shows this month:

2/12-14 Dulles Expo Center Chantilly Va
2/20-21 Equestrian Center Upper Marlboro Md
2/27-28 Fairgrounds York Pa

I am planning on having new knives from Blind Horse and several of my own at these shows.

Helle Knives from Norway

The Norwegian knife maker has announced that they now carry a full lifetime warranty on all of their models. This is the sign of a company that sees the value of their work as I always have.

Tuesday, February 2, 2010

Blind Horse Knives

BHK has just posted their Feb. special! The knives have been made by John and Scooter with 1/4 inch 4140 steel. That is a heavy duty version of the Patch Knives that BHK has been producing for a while. The knives come in black or green micarta with black or brown leather dangler style sheaths.

Purchase the special here!

Bruce Gillespie

Bruce makes his knives from ATS-34, D2, 440C and 1095. His styles range from traditional hunters to classic styles with Wharncliffe blades. He also makes Japanese inspired blades. While this Fighter/Bowie is a little larger than I usually carry, I just had to get it for FBKnife. Bruce actually cast and worked the guard.
